Mary Ostmoe, a special education teacher at Salk Middle School in Elk River, MN, gave a presentation to to a meeting of the School Board, and along with her family and student Nathan Hawk, she got to tell the Board how Olaf, a certified Pawsitivity therapy dog, is making a huge difference at school!
Teacher Mary Ostmoe fundraised for months to raise the money to adopt Olaf who lives with Mary's family when he's not hard at work at Salk.
Mary uses Olaf daily in her special ed. classroom as a calming tool for children with emotional and communication disabilities, a reward for children that is very motivational, and as a teaching tool to help with emotional regulation!
