Methods:

  • Trainers must not use aversives (must be a positive, force-free trainer)
  • Trainers must not use e-collars, shock-collars, or modeling (moving the dog into position)

Services:

  • Rates must be listed (either hourly rate or package cost)
  • State whether the training will be done at the client's home or at the trainer's facility
  • If training is done in client's home, area served should be listed
  • State whether or not the trainer will work with service dogs, service dogs in training, and aggressive dogs

Staff info:

  • Staff's names
  • Photo of staff
  • Years of experience
  • Where the trainer learned their training
  • Any certifications the trainer has

To facilitate transparency, dog trainers must have a website that includes:

  • Business address
  • Business phone number
  • Business email
