Quinn and Xander "leaving it." Good dogs!

We are sitting out on the front porch, and Xander was getting excited by the birds outside, dogs and people walking by, neighbors chatting, etc. We brought out his raised platform (which he now jumps right onto!). We didn't tell him to sit or lie down, though we had to remind him to "liegen" (go to his mat) a couple times when he got too excited and got off. Within a few minutes he started to calm down; his whole body relaxed. You can see his arousal in the first couple photos (though he had already started to calm down). But then he totally relaxed, lay down, and went to sleep. They don't call it the "Zen mat" for nothing!

We took Xander along to dinner tonight. He did great!

From not being able to leave the house, to proud and strong and visiting mountains--such a journey for Bear's man!

Every dog has their favorite place to sleep. Xander loves sticking just his head under the bed, then falling asleep.

Xander will be going to work daily with his man in Boston, so today Xander is doing a "practice run" here in St. Paul, with a.m. 30-minute training walk, train commute, 4-hours at the office, lunchtime 30-minute training walk, 4-hours in the office, then train commute home. Big day for Xander!
